I recommend studying a bit about the history of this place before visiting, it makes it even more interesting. Current building is the 10th version of this church as others have burned down, collapsed or were torn down. History goes back to the Viking age. Coolest thing I've seen in a church is the secret tunnel underneath it that's open for visitors. Would totally recommend this for a 30 minute stop.

Very nice atmosphere and good food. Fish, meat and vegetarian options. Located right next to the historical Skálholtskirkja.
